I am so proud of my boys! Not only did Noah have a great soccer season, Jakob did too. Despite having double ear and sinus infections and a major headache for a few days, Jakob made 2 goals in his tourney game last night! After more than one quarter of no score we thought we were in for a long, boring game. But then, Jakob scored the first two goals in the purple team's 9-7 victory over yellow to move on to the championship game tonight. The game after that was so exciting!! Scoring went back and forth until the end of regulation, ending in a 6-all tie! And in an unprecedented (at least at the Y) shoot out, purple won 9-7.
Now, it is on to the championship against the ever-feared blue team. Blue has gone undefeated and is very intimidating to the other teams. (In one game they stopped adding the goals to the scoreboard, because they were running it up. But the kids all knew the real score.) Although Jakob's team has gotten better over the course of the season, they are still positive they will lose tonight. While celebrating their victory at DQ last night, they all expressed their fear of losing and a lack of confidence against the blue team. We all tried to reassure them that if they played like they did tonight they would win, but the kids weren't having it. They don't understand the concept of mind over matter, but we'll see if they can overcome tonight.
Jakob - we are proud of you. Keep up the good work!
Love you!!
