The weather has gotten a lot warmer and it's time to start gardening again. WooHoo! My beans and peas aren't doing so well since I probably planted them too early. Only 2 plants (I think the beans) have sprouted and one has almost been completely taken care of by the deer.
My lettuce is doing a whole lot better but it's slow going. I started more lettuce seeds in planters on the porch and in the house so hopefully they will go into the garden soon.
I also started eggplant and bell peppers in the house and should be able to plant them in the garden in a couple weeks.
Noah and Ben and I planted 9 broccoli plants today and can't wait for them to start producing, but we'll have to. And Ben planted a dirt clump and is calling it broccoli, we'll keep our fingers crossed for that one to grow.
I noticed that the strawberries are blooming so I decided to weed the row today. I found many new plants growing off to the sides thanks to the rabbits. And I found what I think are carrots (thanks again, rabbits?) but they are not anywhere near where I planted carrot seeds last year (which didn't grow either) so maybe they are not carrots but I left them alone for now.
Coming soon, tomatoes and anything else I can find that should taste good and has a chance of growing in my garden.
If my garden doesn't produce any thing again this year, I might just try a container garden on the porch next year. That seemed to work in KC when I tried it.
The boys got trees from school today, for Arbor Day, and we'll try to find a good place to plant them tomorrow.
